Skelaxin (Metaxalone Tablets) - muscle relaxant used to
treat pain caused by muscle spasms. It works by blocking nerve impulses
(or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. It is used, along
with rest and physical therapy, to treat injuries and other painful
muscular conditions. This medication comes as a tablet to take by
mouth. It usually is taken three or four times a day. The most frequent
reactions to metaxalone include nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal
upset, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and nervousness or "irritability."
Skelaxin is not a Controlled Substance.
Dosing. The dose Skelaxin will be different for different
patients. Follow your doctor's instructions. The following information
includes only the average doses of this drug. If your dose is different,
do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so.
- Adults and teenagers: 800 mg three or four times a day.
- Children: Use and dose must be determined by your doctor.
