Elidel Medical Uses
Elidel (Pimecrolimus) is a topical immunomodulator. Elidel cream is used
for mild to moderate atopic dermatitis. This is a skin condition where
there is itching, redness and inflammation, much like an allergic reaction.
Elidel helps to suppress these symptoms which are a reaction caused by
the body's immune system. It can be used for short-term or long-term periodic
treatment. It is often used when other types of treatment are either not
working or when you cannot tolerate other types of treatment.

Madication Elidel to treat eczema
Many people have eczema (atopic dermatitis). It is a very common problem
in the United States. Eczema is most common in infants, and at least half
of those cases clear by age 36 months. In adults, it is generally a chronic
or recurring condition. Children with a parent, grandparent, brother,
sister, aunt, or uncle who have or have had eczema, asthma, or hay fever
often have eczema themselves. But even people who don't have these conditions
in their families can develop eczema too. Eczema appears most often in
early childhood. People who have it as children may always have dry or
extra-sensitive skin, even as adults.
Eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a chronic, recurring inflammatory skin
disease that is most common in people with a family history of an atopic
disorder: asthma, hay fever, or atopic dermatitis. Eczema is characterized
by patchy, dry, itchy and scaly areas of skin. In severe cases of eczema,
the skin can weep, bleed, and crust over. Most commonly, the affected
skin becomes very dry, itchy, red and swollen; sometimes it's cracked,
crusty and scaly.
The latest treatment for eczema is a new class of skin medications called
topical immunomodulators (TIMs). These medications are steroid-free. They
include tacrolimus (Protopic) and pimecrolimus (Elidel). Studies have
shown as high as an 80% success rate using these new medications.
