Cyclobenzaprine HCl (Flexeril) Uses
Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride (brand name: Flexeril) is a skeletal muscle relaxant. This medicine is used
with rest, physical therapy, and other measures to relax muscles and
relieve pain and discomfort caused by strains, sprains, and other muscle
injuries. It relieves muscle spasms of local origin but is not effective
in spasms which originate from diseases in the brain or spinal cord.
Cyclobenzaprine works on nerves in the spinal cord to dull nerve impulses
or signals to the muscles. Dulling these nerve impulses will help relieve
muscle spasms.

Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride is used to help relax certain muscles in your body.
It helps relieve the pain, stiffness, and discomfort caused by sprains
or injuries to your muscles. Cyclobenzaprine acts on the central nervous
system to produce its muscle relaxant effects. Sprains vary in severity.
Generally, the greater the pain and swelling, the more severe the injury.
Mild. Your ligament stretches excessively or tears slightly. The area
is somewhat painful, you can put weight on the joint. Moderate. The
fibers in your ligament tear, but they don't rupture completely. The
joint is tender, painful and difficult to move. You may feel unsteady
when you try to bear weight on your leg. Severe. One or more ligaments
tear completely. The area is painful and you can't move your joint normally
or put weight on it. If you try to walk, your leg feels as if it will
give way. The joint becomes very swollen and also can be discolored.
