Butalbital APAP Caffeine Medical Uses
Butalbital / Acetaminophen / Caffeine (Generic Fioricet) is a prescription pain reliever
and sedative. Acetaminophen is a pain reliever and fever reducer. Butalbital
is in a class of drugs called barbiturates that slow down central nervous
system causing relaxation. Caffeine is believed to constrict dilated
blood vessels that may contribute to tension headaches. Together, acetaminophen,
butalbital, and caffeine are used to relieve complex tension headaches.
Butalbital APAP to relieve Tension Headaches
Almost 90% of headaches result from increased tension in the scalp
and neck. Tension headache pain is usually described as a vise squeezing
on both sides of the head or a tight band around the head. This pain
can spread to the scalp, face, neck, and shoulder muscles. There are
two kinds of tension headaches: chronic and episodic. If these headaches
occur daily or almost everyday, it could be a chronic tension headache.
If, however, the headaches occur only a few times a week or month, it
