Prevacid Medical Uses
Prevacid (Lansoprazole) is a proton-pump inhibitor - a new class
of drugs that almost totally blocks the production of stomach acid.
Prevacid is indicated for:
- gastric ulcer
- duodenal ulcer
- in combination with antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin)
for the treatment and eradication of H. pylori bacteria (the cause
of a majority of duodenal ulcers)
- treatment of heartburn and other symptoms associated with gastroesophageal
reflux disease (GERD)
- treatment of erosive esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
