Levofloxacin (brand name: Levaquin) belongs to a class of drugs
called quinolone antibiotics. Levofloxacin is indicated for the
treatment of adults with mild, moderate, and severe infections
caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms.

Ortho-McNeil under the brand name Levaquin. This medicine was approved

Mechanism of action: Levofloxacin inhibits the activity of a bacterial
enzyme (gyrase) that is necessary for proper DNA formation and replication.
This fights infection by preventing bacteria cells from reproducing.
